Ok I used the youtbe -dl program and got this answer, I tested the two hyper links in the text, and also all of the text, but it failed to render the file, so what part is the direct stream youtube link?: I restarted the MPC-HC each time I changed something in the options, is that necessary?

I tried all the real time streaming protocols in options, with all file extensions ticked and unticked but MPC-HC still says Failed to render the file. I think I want to stream videos not download them. Last edited by frer on Fri 9:05 pm edited 6 times in total VLC, google chrome, firefox, flash players, because it lacks v-sync in x2d. Reason for using MPC-HC, a x3d software, is to avoid screen tearing which happens in x2D programs on windows XP, eg. The newer versions just say: Failed to render the file. The following pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter: Media player classic could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filter installed on the system. The oldest MPC-HC version gives following error message when I try to play a youtube link: Cannot render the file

Windows media player gives the error message that either the file type is not supported or that necessary codec is missing. The driver name is quartz.dll and is in systerm32 folder. Sherlock the codec detective still says though that my avi decompressor is broken. I tried codec tweak tool to generate fix etc. I downloaded many different codec-packs, eg. I tried ticking and unticking FLV, AVI, MPEG etc in options-filters. I can play any file format if it is already on my hard drive in all of the mentioned media players. I can't play any links, URLs, HTTP(s), neither in MPC-Classic nor Windows media player.
